Hello!

I'm Hadi, a computer science PhD candidate researching

HCI | Ethics | AI

I study computer science, psychology, ethics, education, and interface design to approach challenges in human-AI interaction from a multidisciplinary perspective. I conduct human-computer interaction methodologies to ensure that humans are at the center of all design processes. My goal is to support the design of AI technologies that minimize harmful impacts on individuals and communities.

I collaborate closely with Prof. Ivon Arroyo and Francisco Castro, PhD.

Research Projects

Designing Privacy Notices to Empower End-users in Balancing Privacy and Utility in Real-time Interactions with Generative Conversational Agents

We are using methodologies rooted in human-computer interaction to design user interface privacy notices that empower end-users to benefit from chatbots while protecting the information they share with generative conversational agents.

Exploring the Effects of Transparency Approaches on Teacher-AI Decision-making for Classroom Orchestration

We are evaluating the effects of transparency approaches on teacher-AI decision-making within the context of K-12 classroom orchestration tools.

Exploring College Learners' Thought Processes on the Impact of Technology on Communities

We are integrating PEaRCE (Platform for Ethical and Responsible Computing Education) into CS courses at UMass Amherst to explore learners' awareness of ethics and responsible computing.

Math Teachers’ In-class Information Needs and Usage for Effective Design of Classroom Orchestration Tools

We used methodologies grounded in human-comp interaction, including contextual inquiry and focus group, and developed a conceptual model of math teachers’ in-class information needs and usage.  We provided a theoretical basis for addressing challenges in learning analytics (LA) systems and classroom orchestration tools.
